The oil pressure when hot is very low on the LS1 & LS6 engines--Mine is around 20-28 PSI--I read about this and spoke to several GM people and they all agree not to worry & say it is normal and OK--I was spooked regardless and when i did my HDS/CAM change last year installed a new updated LS6 pump--hoping to increase the idle PSI--Well--it actually was 2 PSI less than my old pump !!!! So I just quit worrying about it--I did feel better when I recorded a run on my Data Logger and saw that at WOT (6400) RPM's the oil pressure was 78 PSI.

My oil pressure after my head and cam is about 30 at start up and then goes up maybe to 40 after warm. I recently(H/C job) changed to a SLP pump that has a ported inlet and outlet and I used the regular pressure ring. I figure it would flow a little better than stock without the high pressure ring. So your saying the pressure is OK? I don't want to be too low or too high.

35to 50 depending on the ambient temperature and brand of filter I'm using.

The brand of filter makes a BIG difference on your oil pressure! The normal FRAM's will give you much lower pressure than Baldwin, supertech, and Mobil 1 filters. I believe this is because the fram's are more restrictive and the LS1's sample oil pressure AFTER the filter.

I was getting approx 25lbs at 900rpm with 5w30 and 200 deg oil temps, and now I'm at approx 30lbs with a blend of 15w50 and 10w30 and the same oil temps. Oil pressure goes right up with rpm and is approx 60lbs at 4500rpm when hot.

Everyone says not to worry about LS1 oil pressure...and I don't think people have seen any failures that can be attributed to the oil pressure...so just run it and enjoy it

Thanks! I was running a Mobil 1 filter but my last oil change they used a Fram I believe. I'll try switching back to the Mobil 1 on the next!

My 97 with 91,000 is 45 to 50 cold and when oil temp is 207 degrees at 1500 rpm runs between 35 and 40.
