I have a 99 coupe with a 6 speed, a vararam b-2, Borla stingers, smooth air coupler and Bosch Platinum +4s and ran side by side with an 01 z06. If they have 385 hp, then where am I at?
You could be lucky and not have gotten a Monday car.
I feel some of the LS1's where underrated on HP. Kind of like the old 302 Camaros. At least 320 at the rear wheels

Not sure what Monday would have to do with it as the engine was assembled at another plant and shipped to the vehicle assembly plant. Or do you mean the engine was assembled on Monday?

With as close as both cars are in hp (35hp stock-your mods+Z06 mods), it can come down to drivers. Maybe your just better.
I agree, maybe the other driver just wasn't as good. I've seen some pretty bad drivers screw up driving some nice cars.
Monday was referring to if it was built on a Monday then it's the day everyone is just getting back to work from the weekend and probably still have thier mind on the weekend instead of building an engine, or whatever part. You know, "having a case of the Mondays?"

I can not see getting a 40 hp gain with mufflers and cold airbox,20-30 maybe but not enough to compete with an early ZO6. If that was the case why did not GM do that on the ZO6. These aftermarket people will right any hp gains to get you to buy.

I agree. '99 had 345 hp, add maybe 20hp for your mods, = 365 hp versus the 385 hp of the '01 Z06.............maybe the Z06 needs a tune.

I did a Callaway Power Group 1, Honker air induction & DD exhaust, the company claims 20-25 HP, I'd say they're close. After taking off the stock air box and seeing how restrictive they are, it's hard to believe the engine got any air at all!! As far as the "duel", I'd still say you got on the Good Foot!
No tune, butI was thinking about the Diablo Tuner. I don't know if it's worth it. Also thinking about getting the B&B shorties. At this point Iknow I will need a tuner.
California cars for 2000 and 2001 were about 5 hp less than the offical GM rating because of the pup converters and old single brick style rear CATs used to meet the California LEV standard for 2000.
Either that or the Z06 had the hand brake set. hahahahaha

Unless you are in California or a state where long tube headers will not pass inspection, don't waste your money on short tube headers.
