Default Stall out problem...

Please let me start by saying I'm the proud new owner of my first Corvette.
I recently purchased a 97 C5 Tourch Red Coupe, Auto. w/ 12,000 miles on her, from a dealership in Walnut Creek, CA.
I live in Sonoma County. Wine country roads of Sonoma & Mendocino were my motivation. I couldn't resist owning a Vette any longer.
Four time she has stalled out on me when I needed her most...Other than that, she runs perfect. At least I think so.
The first time I was rounding a hairpin turn at a sharp decline, slowed to 5 mph for a sharp incline to come out of the turn. When I gave it a little gas she the wheels broke ground on a little gravel and she stalled for a full second... then caught on. I had no trouble the rest of the day.
The most recent was pulling out on 101 at a sharp incline from Sausalito.
Again I was rolling at 5 MPH, and at a serious incline that caused the wheels to break for a split second. Traction control takes over... And she stalls for a full second.....Almost killed me. Each of the time I was asking for torque. Each time the wheels spun an inch.
I get a code (I have been reading up a little....Oh hell ok, a lot)
10 powertrain Control Module 1571H
She didn"t come with a warrenty, she's too old. And I haven't purchased one yet.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Ken

Do you have Active Handling? This sounds completely normal, with AH/TC kicking in when it senses traction loss. It's saving your butt, just ask around on here. You can shut it off, or go to Competitive Mode if you have Active Handling, but until you adapt to the torque, I would definitely leave it on, and just be smoother with the throttle. If you're driving it right, that AH won't even kick in.

Maybe someone can direct me to some material to educate myself on active handeling.

Any advice where I can read up on this code.
The is consistant. Each time I drive the car.

10 powertrain Control Module code 1571H
P1571 ASR Desired Torque -C

Anybody got any Ideas why I keep getting this code?

Well, I dont know what the code means, but it's a start for your research.
The H on your code means it's a History code. If there was a C it would be Current. This is what the code stands for: P1571 ASR Desired Torque -C
Here's a site that has all the codes: http://www.c5-corvette.com/IPC_Codes.htm Some one else could probably direct you to a better site. I'm fairly new to all this. Good Luck, Eric

That surely sounds like the TC kicking in. When it kick in, it bogs the motor pretty good. I'd go someplace safe, turn it off, and step on it so you can make sure and see the difference.
Did you get an owners manual?

I did just that.
I doesn't bog w/o TC.
I still continue to get the code1571H
P1571 ASR Desired Torque -C
Sure wish I knew what it means.
Thanks,
Ken

Sam, I don't believe Active Handling was offered until the latter part of 1998. Traction Control, however, was on the 1997 car.

Go to the Corvette Fever web site. They have a page with computer codes and their meaning.
