Default Performance hood Seal

I' m new to the Forum and this has most likely been discussed before. Does the performance hood seal work and what are the advantages of installing one.

Aww be nice to the new guy.

It keeps your engine bay cleaner, less dirt gets in between the hood and the bumper. You can make your own with home depot weather stripping.

It's so cheap that it is worth doing to keep the motor a little cleaner. The hood seals got laughed at a lot when they used to claim they would add horsepower - they don't.

It also helps keep water off of your perfomance air intake.

You can either buy the flat style weahterstipping you would use on a door or window at home you want about 3/4" width by 5/8" thick or you can buy the hollow "o" profile epdm automotive weather stripping from Autozone or other autoparts stores

That's the main reason I installed mine.

I did it to keep water off Black wing. You have tons of air coming through radiator to engine.

I got mine from Auto Zone. Its from SOFT SEAL and it the exact same stuff that you pay an arm and a leg for on other websites. Theres enough in one package to do TWO hoods! You can split the cost with a buddy. I think it was $12 a package. It been a long time since I purchased it.

You will find out that its better to mount the seal on the UNDERSIDE of the hood rather than on the lip below the hood. When you raise the hood, you wont see it and it wont collect dirt in the lip of the seal as bad.
