No one seems to have mentioned that if the noise is coming from the transmission, it can not be the clutch. The clutch is at the back of the engine and the transmission is in the back on the front of the differential. I don't think the boys at jiffy lube know this. Is the noise coming from the back of the engine or from the rear by the differential????
I guess the real answer would be to get the car in the air and examine the underside components while the engine is running and the drive train is making noise.
I have jack stands and ofter get the car up on all fours and examine stuff with the engine running. It really helps to solve the problem when the drive train is dynamic vise static.
Anybody ever have a muffler baffle break loose ? That gives off some noise at various times. Take the car to your favorite muffler shop for a look see.
I wouldn't trust with anyone has to say at those jiffy lubes/expressway/quick oil change places. One of my buddies worked there and about 90% of the staff was using cocaine. Lots of low class people working in places like that, that have no business diagnosing problems with engines.
Obviously that can't be said for all places like that, just be aware. You may want to have a few forum members take a peek or bring it into a dealer for his OPINION (don't have him touch a thing).
