Won't your aftermarket wheels accept sensors? Many will. The cost for '02 is less than $30 a wheel.

A stealership might charge you almost that muct to turnoff the TPM's
Many shops are a minimum 1 hr charge $85. If I had to choose to pay to turn them off or $120 to install new ones on the new wheels, I'd do the later.

You don't have to though, but you would have to hit the reset button after each start up to clear the DIC. In most cases anyways.
