I installed one before I planned any major mods (well, ok, I installed one when I put in my 3.73's and SS3200 stall converter)
I viewed the brace as a CHEAP insurance policy to protect against more costly damages to the rear end or tranny -
I installed most of it w/ the tranny and rear out of the car - install was simple that way - it might take a LITTLE more effort to install it w/ everything in the car, but I would still do it
Bottom line - if you are going to do performance upgrades to your car, you can't afford NOT to have this IMHO - if you are going to leave your car completely stock, you probably don't need it - but even then, I wouldn't dump the clutch or powerbrake much
