just purchased my Z06 as a rebuilt title (long story but great buy for me) anyway, Indiana requires extra forms to apply for a rebuild title. The police inspection must include both the VIN and either the engine ID number or the transmission number. Since its damn haed to crawl under the car with my buddy the cop, where on the block is the engine serial number?
on C3's i knew it was on a plate up front and easy to see. Not so on the C5. Help!!

Easy. Just pop the hood and look on the inside edge of right front frame rail. It's below and forward of the R/F hood hinge. The complete VIN number is factory stamped into the steel there.

easy enough, I had been told there was a stamped # facing the firewall and I had no chance in you know where to see that number. I'm sure that will be sufficient for the inspection, at least it shows the car us somewhat original

Thanks!

I've seen my VIN on the frame rail as LonestarFRC said. I haven't looked for it where the C-6 VIN's also get stamped on the engine, so I don't know if they did it there on the C-5's or not. Right above the oil filter on the block.
