I'm trying to understand the Drive by Wire setup and when going through the schematics I notice references for TP (Throttle Position?)Sensor #2. Are there (or could there be) multiple TP sensors on the engine?? I know of only the one on the throttle body. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'd really appreciate any assistance!
I originally thought that too, but the pedal is called out as APP (Accelerator Pedal Position). The signal wire actually goes to the
underhood electrical center. The wire in particular is pin 11 on the Throttle Actuator Control Module.
There are two phases of the one TPS. If you measure one side of the switch the resisyance will be high going low and the other side will be low going high. Its a checks and balances circuit. If the resistances are not equal but opposite, it will force the PCM to go into reduced power.
Same goes for the Accelerator Pedal Position switch. Two phases.
Bill - thanks! That seems about right. But do you know why they send it to the dash (cruise control?) and not the PCM? Is this a 'redundancy' that one can do without?
