Default automatic trans pan

I have a leaky trans pan on my C5 automatic and suspect it may need a new pan. What is my best option, stock or aftermarket?

I'd bet it's just a gasket, not the pan.
If you have a hole in the pan, a stock one is fine.

He's right, it probably is just a gasket but if it's coming off anyway, you might want to look into a deep sump pan. Adds a few quarts for lower tranny temps and improved tranny longevity....

I'm looking into buying a deeper pan also. Can I buy any 4L60E pan or does it have to be corvette specific?

This may help, Full line of products for the 4L60E. The leak is probably a gasket problem. If you pull the pan to just change the gasket I would at least change the filter and clean the stock pan. Make sure you torque the bolts when you re-assemble. I believe it is 8ftlbs.

nice, but the fill plug needs to be on the side, not the bottom.
How would you fill the tranny ?

Here is the one I was referring to with the side-mounted fill hole...

Depending on your model year (and if the pan bolts secure the shift cable) there may be some minor mods required.

that looks good.
the one problem with cast pans is that they don't dent, the crack like an egg is something hits it.
