I was cosidering a SC from PTC. I insted went with the cartek heads and cam package with long tube headers. I currently have the RM twin flow but will probably go with the bpp VORTEX. Incredible difference for half the price. My car flys.

Definately are some very good h/c packages out there. Reliable. Competitively priced in comparison to sc.

All good points. If planning a supercharger, I definately agree its best to plan any engine mods around this. When I did my 383 stroker, forced induction was not a realistic option for me. The high compression stroker build really took me in the opposite direction from where I'll be heading if I do the supercharger build.

A heads/cam package can work very well with a supercharger, and they do make h/c set designed for this purpose. Just an example, MMS has a sc/h/c package for the f-body pushing 600rwhp on a stock bottom. I think that's asking too much from a stock bottom end if you expect any longevity, but that's just my opinion.

Zoneblock, I would tend to believe your friend's experience. I have also heard that the stock balancer was keyed and pressed on only about an inch and a potential weak point for longer use of sc, esp if using the larger psi pulleys. I've not heard much more than that, and that was a couple years ago. I'm sure others here know a heck of a lot more about it than me. I feel I'm ok with the fully built bottom end. I had also heard the water pump on the 97/98s failed frequently, but 99 and later were not a problem. Not sure where that stands. I think anytime you start pushing the hp on these cars, you're going to find the weak points.

I was talking to a fellow C5 owner that has a supercharger on his, and he told me he had problems with the drive pulley. He said it was pressed on rather then keyed, and as a result it would slip on the shaft gauling the shaft. Anyone know if this is a true statement with the C5's?
The pulley is just pressed on but with the PTC installation they key the pulley to the crank. I have not had any problem with my pulley slipping.

Can you do a Supercharger AND heads/cam? Also, those of you with a Supercharger what temps does your car run at? Any hotter?
A head and cam setup defiantly helps with a supercharger. There are specific grinds that work well with a supercharger and you would want to look at it as an entire package.
A by product of horsepower is heat and as my horsepower went up so did the temps but they were very manageable with the BE Cool radiator and the oil cooler. My temps stay well below 190 unless I am really jumping on it for a prolonged period of time.

See my sig below... I have not had any issues with the temp of my car, it says at 175-190. In installed a lower temp thermostat also which is helping with the cooling. The ARE set-up Nick selected for me along with the Carroll SC system is a fantastic set up and has yeilded great result. Here is a pic...

We still need to do some Dyno tuning which should get us another 25-30 rwhp. Good luck with your decision.
