It will not fit over the bottom of the new **** without some serious work. I ended up tearing mine so I went with the shorter boot from Vette Essentials looks much better anyway for the $60 bucks. Enjoy the shifter. Don

When installing the C6 Z06 Shifter in a C5 do you reuse the stock C5 inner boot?
Maybe he's referring to the flat rubber seal/isolator aka "inner boot"? It's supposed to seal out dust and noises.
The outer leather/vinyl "boot" will work if you cut a few threads at the top allowing it to slide over, then tie wrap that end around the lever and fold over. This has been asked and this same suggestion given several times since people have converted over to the C6/Z06 shifters.

C6Z06 shifter arrived @ 5:00 pm today from Gene Culley.
Installed and test-driven, following Patches' great instructions. Time: 7:00. Two hours start to finish, taking it slow and easy....with frequent trips back to the computer to check on the next step.
Perfect fit, and drives GREAT!
THANKS especially to Patches for taking the time to share the wisdom, and document it so well that a trained monkey (me) could do the install.
I would not have had the courage to do it without your write-up.
I DO have to say that it was a PLEASURE to do after a couple of years of working on a C4.
Bitchin' mod!
