First thing to check is the fluid level in the brake reservoir. If it is OK, the next thing to do is check for any DTC that are related to the brake system. There are some DTC that can set for problems with brake pressure being high/low, etc. that will set the BRAKE warning light. Until the problem that set the DTC is cleared, that light will glow at you no matter what position the e-brake handle is in.
