I have a Corsa pace car muffler that rattles a bit when I hit a bump. I bought it used, and it came off a car that got rear ended. There is a good dent in thing, so there is no way it is under any warranty. The exhaust tone is fine, so it appears to work well otherwise.
My idea is to run a stainless screw or two through the body to hold the core still. Do any of you guys know a better way, or whether this is a good/bad idea to do?
Another soution would be to remove the muffler, and either cut the end open, or cut a rectangle out of the top section of the muffler canister. A good muffler shop should be able to tack weld the loose baffle and weld the cover back on for you. If the plate is cut out of the top, you will never see the repair when re-installed.
Yeah cutting it open is my last ditch effort before buying a new one. I really wanted to remove the end cap at the seam, but the corner of it is crunched in pretty good. Cutting a small window in the top may be the best way to go for it. I have seen a cut away of a corsa before, but I don't remember it well enough to know the ideal spot to open it up.
