CF member Patches did a detailed write up not long ago about installing the changer. He used a good method to attach the bolts for the brackets.
You might PM him or search for that discussion.
Did you get the plate that is suppose to glue to the body? The plate has 4 bolts that are built on to the changer's plate. The plate attaches by adhesive to the body. The the brackets bolt down to the built in bolts.
But you can make your own, by gluing an MDF panel to the body and screwing the changer brackets to the MDF.
Liquid nail if you never want it to come off again or silicone if you do.
No plate w/ changer any other suggestions Thanks for other suggestions
Contact Gene at GMPARTSHOUSE...I think he has the installation kit that you need for the install. It should include everything you need except the harness.
Since GM recommended the brackets be epoxied to the trunk compartment, there probably are not many good used brackets available. It would be fairly simple to make one up out of mild steel or aluminum though. I seem to recall that's what Patches did in his write up.
What bracket are they talking about that you use for the template for drilling the holes?
I've got the CD changer and the "L" brackets, and I've got the 2 things that each have 2 bolts on them which are supposed to be riveted / glued to the rear tub wall
But the bracket part confuses me - is the bracket SOLELY for measuring purposes, or is it left in place for stregnth?
