Advanced lowering question

Default Advanced lowering question

Last month I took out the front adjuster bolts entirely and have had no problems until this morning. The front suspension is making a rubbing noise. I used a peice of rubber between the a-arm and spring and it is starting to work its way out now...so can I lift the spring a small amount with a jack to put the spacer back and secure it properly. I dont want tear everything apart since i just had it aligned.

After you get the weight of the car off your wheels, you can use a bottle jack with a pad (wood wrapped with a rag works) to lift the spring off the A-arm enough to reposition your rubber spacer.
Just be careful and keep your fingers out of the way!!

I didnt remove the bolts completely on my car. I just cut 2/3's of the bushing away and it lowered it the perfect amount. I didnt like the idea of the spring rubbing the lower control arm.

I lowered my car yesterday. I used longer metric bolts in the rears and retained the stock rubber bushings and it is perfect. I cut almost all the rubber off the front bolts but there is still quite a bit of space between the tire and fender. Even if I remove the front bolt there will still be a little too much space. I have the stock Z51 suspension. MattG, your car is pretty low in the front. Do you have the Z51 suspension? Do you think 19 in. rims with 275/30/19 tires will fill the space up more as I will recieve mine in a couple of weeks?

I did exactly as you on my 98' several years ago. I used a piece of ABS plastic (like a plastic license cover) and it held up well. You should cut a piece the shape of the "pocket" so that it cant move.

As the others said, put the car on jack stands and use a jack to raise the spring just in-board of the a-arm. You should have just enough room to get another piece in.
