Default O2 sensor question

Do the rear O2 sensors on my 01 ZO6 have to be hooked up to the connectors on the same side as the sensors? In other words can you plug the sensor in the passenger side pipe to the plug on the drivers side of the engine? The wiring seems to run a lot neater that way and I don't really like them making the 180* turn required to hook them up on the same side, although if I recall correctly that's the way they were routed when I took them off.

IIRC, they are "crossed: from the factory. The RR goes to LF and
LR goes to RF. If they get hooked up wrong, you'll pop some codes.
