Default Problem with HID's

Has anyone else had a problem where you had to flick your brights to get one of your lights to work? Just curious. If so....how did you resolve the issue? Thanks.

There are several posts about people having to flick on their brights to get the headlights to go down. The stock headlights need 55w of power. When you turn them off, the computer recognizes the drop in voltage (?) and activates the headlight motor. HIDs only use 35w of power, and the lower power consumption causes the computer to not sense the headlights being switched off. People have added a low-resistance, high-current resistor in the wiring harness to bring the total power consumption back up to 55w, but you have to be careful where you mount it because it gets very hot. It's like having a headlight bulb wired in-line. I have an H4 HID setup; i.e., single bulb for low and high beams. My kit has a single connector to the car's wiring harness, so I was able to solve the problem with a relay rather than a resistor. It may not help, but here's a link to the full description. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1745936
