Got these messages on my DIC yesterday, they will come on one at a time. Checked codes and got C1214. The messages can be reset but the warning lights on the dash stay on all the time when you are driving. Anybody have any experience with this problem? What causes this and is it a simple thing for me to repair (ground problem?) or will I need a trip to the dealer. My car is an '03 Z06 with 54k miles. I also have a major guard extended warranty with 0 deductible, will I be needing it? The car has been trouble-free until this occurence.
I will be pulling mine and sending it off either this weekend or next weekend.
Good luck!
If you have an extended warranty good for you. On my 01 vette my dealer wants $3200.00 to fix my problem, which is the same as yours. I have only 24,000 miles on my car. Chevy says to bad, so sad. This is a major problem with 97-04 vette from what I am seeing. However I can send my module in and have it repaired for under $200.00 with a warranty for 3 yrs or $325.00 for a life time warranty. I have found that many dealer charge as much as $4500.00 to fix this problem, I think they are in hopes the owner is a dummy and will fall for this scam. Well I am going to shut up now ha ha the more I see this crap the madder I get. Hope this helps Randy
The 1214 DTC is the KISS OF DEATH for the EBTCM. If you have a 1214 DTC, there is a relay inside the module that is bad Its called the system realy. You cant fix it.
Use the warranty!
If the dealer has to change the EBTCM, it should NOT be much more than $1200-$1500. If there charging the warranty company a lot more, find out what else needs to be repalced.
