Whats up CF'ers... I kind of have a hard decision to make. Which is the meanest sounding exhaust? I've been looking at exhaust for a while now it's finally come time to get it. I've got my eye on the Borla XR-1 and the SLP Loudmouth. I was wondering if anyone of yall (i'm from the south  )could post some personal experiences with the exhaust, anything and everything would be helpful!
I've heard that the Loudmouth has so much resonance it will rattle your teeth out. Several forum members have installed it and then ended up taking it off.
I've also heard that the Borla sounds great but there are still some resonance issues there.
I personally have the Corsa Indy's and LOVE them. They are no louder than stock at idle and have ZERO resonance. Once you go WOT they sound mean as hell and are very loud! Best of both worlds really.
The B&B PRT's are very similar to the Indy's but have a slightly different sound to them. You can't go wrong with either choice.
Meanest meaning what - loudest or most obnoxious? Having heard almost all of the current exhausts out there, I would say the Borla XR-1 is the loudest without being obnoxious. SLP Loudmouth is loud and obnoxious. B&B PRTs are somewhat tamer, but still loud and mean. Corsa Indys a bit tamer than PRTs, somewhat more refined, but still aggressive.
It is hard to qualify which is the meanest 'cuz that is such a subjective term. I would suggest finding some vette owners in your area who have these exhausts and take a listen. I personally prefer the PRTs; mean sounding and somewhat loud, but they don't peel the linings off your eardrums.
Borla XR-1s with DRM long tube headers....is mean as hell sounding in my opinion. I have never heard the SLP so I can not compare it, but what I can tell you is that you won't want it any louder then the XR-1+ long tubes set-up. The resonance happens around 2,000-2,500 rpms with a 6 speed it is really not a problem. The XR-1 also replaces your H-pipe which is something you would want to do anyways when you do the exhaust.
I like loud & obnoxious! At least on the car...it turns heads (some in disgust) and is always good for a conversation starter when someone hears you at the track and wants to see whats under that thing. :D
How bad is the interior resonance? I LOVE the mean and obnoxious sound, espicially on the corvette. Are you able to have a conversation without having to yell or should I get an X-Pipe to help keep the interior resonance down?
I absolutely love my XR-1. To me, it sounds "mean" as hell. A friend has the Corsa Indy on his '01 coupe. Its sounds dang good, but IMO, the Borlas have more muscle. I've never heard the Loudmouths.
If anyone with the SLP Loudmouth is reading this -- could you tell me if it's too loud to talk without yelling inside of the car? That's the one thing that might keep me from getting the SLP. I love the loud obnoxious sound, I just need to know how bad it is inside :p:

I have had the SLP LOUDMOUTH exhaust and if you are looking for loud then this is the system you would want. as soon as you start the car up you hear a tremendous differance. Though the interior noise is loud. There are burbles at every downshift. I actually had car alarms going off when I got on it with these pipes. unfortunately my wife was pleading with me to take them off so I did and now Iam looking for another exhaust system. :mad
Want to have your cake and eat it too? Try the Corsa Indy Pace Car System. It does not resonate, is quiet when cruising, screams bloody murder at WOT, and does a great snap, crackle, pop, burble under backpressure. Oh, it sounds like a big block motorboat at idle.
I always get compliments on my Corsa system, both on the street and track. I have a friend with a Ferrari Modena 360 and he loves chasing me around the track so he can listen to my exhaust! I've watched tapes of my car on the track and it sounds just unbelievable.
i had my mufflers removed and straight-piped into nice tips. everyone that has heard my car definitely says it sounds the meanest. it really does sound awesome. i could send you pics of the mod if you're interested. i will never spend $$ on a cat back now. i belong to a couple of local corvette clubs here, when they hear my car they all wonder which exhaust i have...when i tell them "none" they flip because they all spent so much $$ on theirs yet mine sounds better.
