Default Question about pilot bearing

Can you remove the pilot bearing without removing the flywheel? I'm replacing the slave cylinder this weekend and when someone was driving my car this past week, they said the noise I was hearing when taking off in 1st gear was a sign of a bad pilot bearing. I've heard about balancing issues with the flywheel and I know I have a good clutch so I don't wana mess with the flywheel if I don't have to.

Thanks!

That noise is probably the "marbles in a can" that all MN6's produce in various amounts.

Yes you can...You'll need to rent/borrow a slide hammer/pilot bearing remover from auto zone. Actually, all of the major auto parts stores should loan them out.
It'll take a couple good whacks, but you'll get it out.

Yea, my old '99 FRC made the same exact noise so I never really thought much about it and always heard that these M6's were noisy. I got it all apart and the pilot bearing looks fine.

Thanks

to answer your question, yes you can replace your pilot bearing without removing your flywheel. But it's a PITA because you have to remove everything from the bell housing back including your rear-end and suspension.
