Default Need Head, Help

Ok its been beat to death but all the searchin and reading I've done, Im still a little lost. Im in the market for new heads. I have the following mods (see sig) and a guy is selling a brand new set of LS6 heads for $500. Well seeing what Patriot Performance has avaiable are the LS6 heads worth it or spend a few more hundred for the better head. I have the valve train so thats not a issue. I cant afford AFR's or the other big guys. So I im guess Im asking whats the best head for a good price.

Also if I decide to go with the LS6 heads is there anything special I have to do to install them or do they bolt right on?

Thanks Everyone for the help!

LS6 heads new are not $500, those are LS2 heads and don't contain the light valves. He is misrepresenting the product. I would buy the Patriots over the stock LS2 heads.

Vettenuts,

How do you know they aren't LS6 heads?

Happa,

The only difference between the LS6 & LS2 heads are the hollow exhaust valves. If your on a budget they will work fine. The Patriot heads are a good product for the money as well as TSP and others.

They are LS6 heads. He's a friend of mine so I guess he's giving me a good deal. They were going on his LS1 GTO and decided not to do that to a daily driver. BUt, thanks for the advice!

Can't you buy CNC'd "budget" heads for about 8-900? They are going to be a better performance match to your X4, I'd think, and you can run a little higher compression. The light valves are a nice feature, but porting is better.
