Default Installed Raptor Light

Tody I installed a Raptor shift light in my 2000 FRC. I followed the pictures and info posted by Flyin'Brian in previous thread. Everything went as explained in the post. Was able to further identify the correct 'white wire' that is the tach pulse. There are three white wires shown in the post. One ( the one that appears to be off-white) is 18ga or 20ga. It is the thicker of the three. It is not the correct one. The other two white wires are smaller 20ga or 22ga and are whiter than the thick one. I used a safty pin to probe each wire, connecting the green raptor wire to each probe pin (having the red power wire and the black ground wire connected), and then start the engine. I preset the raptor to 1500RPM. When I probed the correct small white wire an started the engine, bringing it to 1500RPM, the light worked!!! This was great. Thanks to Flyin'Brian for the details. This forum and the people who take the time to help people with their posts, make it an even greater tool for corvette owners. Thanks all....Lomoman

It's even easier to use a simple 12v test light probe.

Connect the alligator clip to ground, then use the probe to pierce and test each white wire while watching the tach. When you probe the right one, the tach needle will bounce up a little.

No need to connect power or even turn iginition on while doing this.

(this handy tip was also posted in the thread started by FlyinBrian thread you referenced).

The Raptor shift light is a great little piece...money well spent.

Kyle

Take a look at the instrument panel electrical center, fuse panel in the pasengers footwell and examine Fuses:

Fuse (BCM/SIPC) Fuse#25, 10amps

Fuse (IPC) Fuse #19, 10 amps

If I fix it you owe me a ride in your 65!!!

I saw your IM and figured that answering it here might help someone else,

Thanks for the info,I found it before I saw your reply. You know on the 65,I'd rather be driving my 99,don't like the handling of the old cars, its nice around town but on the highway its no fun.By the way it was fuse #19 in the passengers footwell,it also took out my HUD if that helps anyone, all is good now.
