I'm thinking you need some new couplers!

What sort of symptoms did that mess exhibit?

It had a bad clunk every time I touched the gas, sounded just like a bad u-joint, you know, the kind where there are no needle bearings in the caps, just rusty dust. And believe it or not, it had no vibrations at all, I even had it up to 150 the last time I drove it and still no vibrations! I just finished installing an A&A blower kit so I've been overly cautious of every little noise, smell, and vibration. I had it on the dyno about 50 miles before I tore it down and nobody there heard or saw anything either. btw, it made 507/465...with that dishrag holding the drive shaft together!

Damn, I just realized that what I thought was the blower belt slipping was that rubber inside the torque tube getting hot! Some of the times I hammered on it I would see smoke and smell rubber so I figured it was the belt slipping. I had to scrape a bunch of burned up rubber from the inside of the tube, rings of it where the couplers were.
