MSD Coil Pack

Will there be any gain in HP with switching the stock coil packs to the MSD packs?

Any upgrade to the C5 ignition coils is unnessicary unless you're running high compression, FI or nitrous setups where a stronger spark is nessicary to ignite a significantly dense fuel/air mixture.

...if you're really ambitious though, painting the oem coils red might make the engine compartment really stand out.

I installed them on my 98 A4---Mostly because i got them cheap and for the "bling" factor----No noticable power gains at all-----
But they look so Cool !!!!!!!

Tuners have used oem ignition over 1000 HP. No need for coils or wires.

I put them on and noticed my engine ran much smoother at idle. No Horsepower gain but I leave my engine covers off now because they do look good. My plan is to use N2O and thought the MSD coils would be a good safety net

^ Did you swap plugs at the same time... how old were your oem coils? You'll only have improvements if your oem equipment is malfunctioning.
