I.have a 98 coupe and all of a sudden every time I turn on the headlights within 5 or ten minutes I blow the parking/taillights fuse, since when this fuse goes I also loose the instrument panels light and the headlight doors will not go down I don't know were to start, I should mention this problem started the day after I put the car on the lift to change the oil, I don't know if there connected, Also I don't have a computer at home so I'm doing this from work and if I'm a little slow to answer a question please be patient, I realy need help on this one
Was your car in the rain? The front parking lights are known to crack and water leaks in. Usually this results in just a burned out bulb (actually, they explode). If yours is full of water, you may be shorting out the system.

Your headlight motors are controlled by a headlight module. It's mounted on the front frame header cross rail direct under the passengers headlight assembly. If that module is defective, it can cause this problem. If it gets very HOT when the lights are on, thats NOT good.
Try this. turn on the headlight and as soon as the doors fully raise, turn the stalk to the running lights ONLY. Se if you blow a fuse in the 5-10 min period.
Then just turn on the PARKING/RUNNING LIGHTS without raising the headlight doors.
See if that makes a difference.
Todd157k has a good point, see if all your lights work and they all look normal once there ON. If one is dim or out, that would be a good place to start.
Todd157k & Bill thanks for the suggestions, when I get home from work I will check for both. I will reply iin the monring with the results. Bill I know you know alot about these cars so if you can keep a eye out for my response I would really appreciate your help
Here are the results from last night. I did like Toddl57 suggested and all my lights were dry and all the bulbs were good. Bill I also did like you suggested and the fuse blew on parking lights only, and also with the headlights on. I found the headlight relay and that was not hot. I then put in a 20amp fuse just to check and the fuse did not blow.I know this is not a proper fix so the problem still exists. When I had the car on the lift when I changed the oil I also unpluged and cleaned the left side ABS jumper cable from the back of the wheel because I was getting the service traction/ABS light when I hit a bump and I had read your post, could that have anything to do with my problem. also since I bought the car 2 years and 12,000 miles the service vechile light comes on whenever I start the car But I have never had any problems with the car until now.Bill I live in CT like you do so you know the weather in the next couple of days may slow my problem solving but any other suggestions would be greatly appreacited
I'm stiil haven't fixed my problem yet. From the work that I've done the last couple of nights I'm pretty sure the problem exits in the wiring for the parking/tailights. I've inspected the wire harness for this the best I could any nothing jumps out yet. Just wondering if anyone else out there has had a simliar problem with there harness rubbing or shorting out in a spot that maybe I didn't see.
