Default Help! Oil Pressure Problem

On my way to work this morning and notice my oil gauge pegged at 80 lbs. Hit the DIC and it says 130! Anybody else ever have this happen? been about 1500 miles since last oil change. car is a 99 with 68000 miles on it. basically stock ( intake and exhaust ).

You need to buy a new oil pressure sending unit. There is a sticky at the top of the page I believe. It's a pain of an install from what I hear but quite a common problem. I wouldn't worry about it to much; Just fix it when you have the time.

Thanks guys. so i guess the dic and gauge get there signals from the same 1 sending unit so if one is reading bad they are both going to read bad. I was kinda worried that with both of them reading bad that there might be a clog or problem somewhere but was hoping to hear probable sending unit.

You're good to go on this fix. Go to the sticky at the top of this tech forum for the oil pressure relocate, see my post #272 on how to do the relocate step by step. This way, when u buy a new sensor (buy the Buick one as it's brass), you can easily replace it in the future w/o taking your intake off every time!

Very common problem, nothing to get in a twist about. Whatever you do, don't cut a hole in the airbox. Pull the intake and do it right, unless you enjoy breathing fumes from the engine.
