Heard a hissing sound last night and found that the drivers seat cushions lost their adjustment. It was raining hard and the seat area did get wet a little, and luckily today it seems everything is back to normal. Is this a bad future message? Is it difficult to disassemble and repair this unit like a flat tire? Any pics or details? Thanks
Once the bladder starts leaking it is toast. The bladder is outrageously expensive and to the best of my knowledge no one has been able to make a permanent repair. Replacing the bladder is easy, if you do a search you will find several posts on it.
Thanks, I got that feel from a search. I think I am lucky in that water must have gotten into the control unit on the side of the seat. Otherwise it couldn't have been ok today. I wonder if anyone else has commented on the electrical aspect of the seat control??
It was an air leak. The motor would cycle on and off to keep the bag inflated. I have not replaced the bag yet I'm not sure if it's part of the seat cushion or seat cover.
I just replaced mine using an extra large blood pressure cuff. You can find these at your nearest Walmart for around $11 dollars. It works just fine, and was too easy to install. Just unsnap the center cushion, trim the hose a bit, install the blood pressure cuff, and you're done!
The side bolster bladders are notorious for breaking off the hose nipple.
This probably occurs when you flop the seatback forward to get to the rear storage or to vacuum. Cost is over $500. Some have silicone glued the nipples back in place for a temporary fix.
My fix was just to eat a lot more and gain enough weight so I don't need the side bolsters adjusted inward - probably more than $500 spent, but I enjoyed every minute.
