Sweet spot for six speed replacements?
Hey Gang,
The gearbox in my long-suffering 2k frc is getting too crotchety. This is a DD and has been a great for years. In a perfect world, I'd call up one of our awesome vendors and get an awesome new/rebuilt setup, but I just can't justify that much cost. Is there a decent budget option out there to get something approaching buttery shifts?
I've searched my brains out...but you know how that goes.
I'd sure appreciate any pointers,

Keep an eye on the C5 parts for sale section. You can find lightly used trannys at very reasonable prices from wrecks or cars modded for racing. Also contact corvette Recyclers - forum vendor - their link is in the screen left hand side near the bottom. Good prices and service from them.

My '01 had a symtom of popping out of 2nd gear when shifting into it sometimes.I thought the synchro was beginning to wear. When the clutch needed replacing I had the gear box rebuilt since it was already out.
It kept popping out of gear just like before.
It ending up being the shifter out of adjustment.

First and reverse have started getting difficult to go into at times and is getting balkier in general. I've changed the fluid a few times and even tried different kinds.
I don't race or abuse the car...but it does see a lot of stop and go.
