Default Exhaust installation question

Am installing a Z06 (take off) exhaust on my '04 Vert.
Pretty straightforward except the instructions I have from a Corvette Fever article about dropping the stabilizer bar. I couldn't figure out what they wanted me to remove...but now I have figured that out but I have 2 questions.

They don't list the torgue specs in the article for retightening the bolts holding the stabilizer bar to the frame (they list PSI if you're using an air wrench...which I am not). Anyone have the torque specs (top and bottom bolt)?

Also, before i figured out what they wanted me to unbolt, I started looseing the bolts on the ends of the stabilizer bar, (that little 5 inch dogleg) only to realize that after many turns, they didn't actually "loosen"...they must be secured at a certain depth against the rubber bushing. Did I screw anything up by turning them? I think they just rotated as I thought I was loosening them?

You'll be okay on the endlinks (Dog Legs ) if you look in the center of the "BOLT" you'll see an allen wrench (Or star Bit) center!

So you will use an allen wrench in conjunction w/a wrench open end or boxed your choice

As for the TQ specs for the sway bar brackets someone will need to chime in because I don't have that here with me!

Thanks,Matt

thanks Matt..yes, end links...(can you tell I'm a golfer?)... I thought i saw the star end...so i probably just rotated them and not actually loosened anything...no harm/no foul, right? as the article said I don't have to remove the end links.

YUP! You're good!

You just have to get the *** end up real high in order to change that exhaust!

Thanks,Matt

According to LS1howto The top one needs to be torqued to 49 ft lbs and the bottom one is torqued to 70 ft lbs.

You need to remove the sway bar brackets only..and pivot the sway bar downwards...the exhaust will slide right out...i did mine a couple of weeks ago....very easy especially if it's on a lift....good luck..

If the car is an auto - this is a must.

The shield is a two-piece arrangement, and if you remove the whole shield, the tank is now dangling.....so be sure to only remove the rearmost portion of the heat shield panel.....

Hi 72TTop -

Look at the passenger side, in front of the muffler - there is a metal pan held on by 10mm bolts.

Remove the two bolts holding the rear pan on and slide it rearward to pull the tab out of the slot on the forward portion of the shield.

Then your passenger side catback pipe will come right out of there.

best regards -

Hey thanks for the gas tank Shield info. Before I took it off, I backed the car up clear to the end (tires not quite hanging over) and I had enough clearance to turn the catback enough to slide her out. Good news for anyone else with an Auto car...just back it up to the edge of the lift.

The service manual covers this in great detail. It has been a lifesaver for me.
