Still thinking about installing a supplimentary cooler on my automatic transmission and wonder if anyone has suggestions, leads to forum threads, directions, caveats, etc? Any help would be appreciated. I have done just about everything to mod my cars over the years, but have not tried this before. Thanks. :)
I had a B&M 70264 installed, that's the biggest one they make that takes ordinary hose fittings and also has an internal bypass (thermostat, sort of). Mounted in front of the A/C condenser on the passenger side, near the bottom. Hose fittings point outboard. Hoses are covered with plastic sheathing for protection and go down, then through the notch (slightly enlarged) at the top of the pivoting spoiler, then back up. You want to keep using the cooler that is factory installed in your right radiator tank, so splice into the TOP tranny line that comes out of the radiator. Be sure to top off the trans after installation. If you do it this way, you will need to buy extra hose, and probably can't find the proper stuff in the parts stores (you want 200 psi, 300' working temp). Jegs.com part #771-130 should be right.
Other guys have used different installations that also worked well, including some in your area. But if you need more info on mine, send me an email. With the cooler installed, my max tranny temp on a 90' day after 30 minutes of max effort on a road course was 250'.
Found this old picture of a B&M installation. I was going to install one but, when I found out it was not really necessary unless I was going to auto X, I sold it.
