Default Help, plug and wire change...

Just changed my plugs and wires and now the car is running rich. It smells like gas terrible. It sounds like the engine is running fine, just smells like gas. I made sure to gap all the plugs and im using ngk iridum's with msd 8.5 mm wires. made sure to use the anti sieze. could it be that burning off Any ideas...

Pull the plugs and see if one has more buildup on it than the others, you may have accidentally cracked a plug during the install. Also I don't beleive you are supposed to gap irridium plugs cause the electrode is so small and can crack or bend.

The car shouldn't be doing anything different to make it smell like fuel. Did you disconnect any wiring to get the plug job done? You may have accidentally disconnected one sensor or line, but I would think that would kick a check engine light..

don't know if any of that helps just typing out loud...

Agree with the possibility of a broken plug, did it two weeks ago - had no idea when installing. Buy a new set and do over.

I agree with the other posts. When you drive it does there seem to be any loss of power or stumbling thru the RPM range? Also, you didn't mention the gap, but on the NGK iridum's its 50
