Having read all the above, having a push button might be nice - in fact I've owned a lot of cars that had them - but, IMO, just too much work for a bit of bling.
If I were to do it though, I would go with the starter button Morgan uses on it's trike - it's a version of the "bomb release" button from the Eurofighter, complete with the safety you have to flip up first. Way cool.

When solid state relays are used in the control circuit there are no switch contacts to degrade as found in the ignition switch, the key in/out switch is eliminated as well as the key resistor reader contacts that can fail.
