got new wheels and tires and put 4 new tire sensors in at the same time. did the sensor relearn thing, all is good.car sat for a week and i get service tire monitoring system.the right front tire reads xxx, so i try to do the relearn thing again.the right front will not learn, the horn will not sound off.any ideas? is it possible to get a bad sensor regardless that it is new? thanks in advance for any help.
I assume that you are not experiencing any AH/TC issues since you didn't mention any, so I further assume that you reprogrammed the PCM to accomodate the new wheel/tire sizes.
With that in mind, it would appear that your sensors were not placed in the same position on your new wheels as they were on your old wheels (i.e. the RR sensor on your old RR wheel is not on new RR wheel).
There is a re-learn procedure that I have read on a post here before using a magnet, but I can't remember how far back that was. Might be worth it to do a search or hopefully someone can chime in that has done this before.
my car is a 98 so i don't have AH. no problems with the TC . these are brand new sensors. i did the sensor learn procedure and everything worked fine for 2 weeks. i did not drive the car for a week.now the right front sensor is not working and it will not relearn. sensors are 3 weeks old
thanks,mike
It sounds like you have a bad sensor. Sometimes the centrifugal switch inside can stick too. Assuming you are using a powerful enough magnet all that is left is a bad sensor. If they are only three weeks old, you'll have to replace it. I would think you can get a new replacement for free. If you got them from a GM Dealer, they are covered for 12 months. The hassel is having to dismount the tire again to get to it.

I had a new sensor go bad several weeks after it was installed. Is the valve stem cap on and is it the original? I believe that the valve stem is the antenna for the sensor and have "heard" that some after market caps can cause a problem. Since the right front is farthest from the receiver it would be the most likely to fail.
I rebuild these sensors and I am pretty sure its bad from the factory, I buy those batteries that go in them all the time and I have gotten a few "low" batteries, let me know if they wont give you another one cause I can put a NEW GOOD battery in it.

thanks don i'll let you know. i bought them from gene cully at gmpartshouse.i sent him an email,i think it will work out fine.
not to happy right now. as it stands now gene wants me to go to a dealership to get the sensor warranted. i did'nt buy it from the dealer, i bought it from him. he should replace it.why should i have to go through that crap? i think it is very poor customer service.
