Can the traction control be permanently turned off, or do I need to use a device like the LAP TRAX track active controller? I still want to have the option on having the AH on or off.
Thanks
Because It is a daily driver and I am old and don't always remember to press and hold the button every time I start the car.
I'm sure that with time it would be second nature. If you are that old, why do you need TC off? Maybe you wouldn't even remember why you turned it off.

I've been thinking about adding that for a while. I just checked out their web site, did you see the sale price they have on it right now? wow!
the one thing I wasn't sure about is does it just remember what setting you used last time and keep that setting, or does it need to be retrained which setting you want it to go into? like if I set it to go to comp mode, but one day I needed traction control and I turned it back on, the next time I start my car will it restore the previous settings (everything on) or will it go back into comp mode automatically even though I turned TC back on last time. I'd like it to just remember what position I'm in and keep it that way...

The TC/AH is one of the few annoyances I have with the C5's.
Pushing the button once should put it into competition mode, and push and hold should shut off Active Handling. The way they have it now is backwards. Why would they make something that you quickly push to disable all the safety features?

The Laptrax looks pretty interesting.
I am with you. If it was just a quick push of the button to get to competion mode it would be one thing, but mine has to be held 6 or 7 seconds and often does not activate leaving both off.
