Wideband o2 sensor location

Look at dyno shops, they stick a sensor in the end of the tailpipe.
I'm not running cats, so I used the bungs where the stock rear 02 sensors used to reside.
Many wideband systems, also have a narrowband output function, so it can physically replace one of your stock front sensors, and still allow you to connect the NB output to the stock front sensor harness.
not the shops I've visited. If the cars owner refuses to allow the shop to weld in an upstream bung, they tell the guy that the tune won't be guarenteed.
I got a bung with screw-on cap - installed for $15 at a local muffler shop !!!
Tailpipe tunes with catted cars is guess work. Why spend $400 on a dyno tune and always think it may not be completely right due to the guesswork involved. Only cost $15 to remove the guesswork... who wouldn't do that

Sure there's conversion charts for tailpipe tunes with catted engines. But is this conversion factor for a... brand new cat? How about one with 5k miles? Is the conversion factor the same for a cat with 50k miles ? How about a cat that's partially blocked, but unknown by the cars owner?
I also wonder if all these tailpipe tunes that are witnessed - are with cars that the owner has removed or gutted the cats. There may be a lot of assuming behind the claims that most cars dynotunes are after the cats (tailpipe) when in fact the owner has bypassed ot gutted their cats to begin with.
Here is where my bung is installed:

just in front of the precat (pup cat). And to Lord Sword (the OP) your '99 probably does not have precats... just the main cats. So there's more area for your additional bung to be installed.

Put a bung in the wife's headers recently in prep for the WB sensor. You can see it on the driver side in the middle of the x-pipe below.

Sensor tip needs to be at least 24" from the primary flange and point slightly to fully downward to prevent condensate from collecting on the tip.
