Hey guys,
I just started getting the "check engine" and scanned for codes and got the following. My search shows that this is related to the Catalytic converter or perhaps Oxygen sensors. I much rather embark on switching out the sensors ($$) vs. cat conv. Any one else experience this issue?
Since you are running LG's, what is the rear oxygen sensor setup? Are you running sims? Best to tune them out as they eventually seem to throw this code. (I am guessing at your setup though, need more information).
It's those rear (bank 2) right & left 02 sensors...2 options: Tune them out with HP Tuners OR install 02 sims (simulators) in their place..."with the installation of long tube headers, the rear 02 sensors get such an increase in exhaust flow, they get different readings & you get P0420 & P0430 code warnings"....no harm, does not affect performence, but the DIC lights up!........
Thanks for the responses. No I do not have shims. I do need to update my profile:
LG long tube headers
Blackwing CAI
LS6 (just installed)
Prior to install, never had any problems but we checked everything over pretty good. It is running great or at least it seems to be. So it seems like I should by just bypass the sensors? How? Also, is there any point to getting a dynotune? Sorry for all the questions but I just want to get it right
this is a very common and normal issue when you have LT headers and hiflo cats. the reason you had no problems before is that the stock cats get hotter because they are more restrictive.
the codes reflect the higher flow of the aftermarket cats. your best bet is to tune them out.
also, you NEED to get them tuned out if you are in an emmissions regulated county because if the code is present you will fail.

OK tune it out it is. Thanks for the advice and info. How do I tune it out? do I need to get a dynotune or?? .
"HP Tuners" has a program that can be used to tune them out (see my previous post)...go to a Tuner that has this program ...they will probably charge you $120 to $150, based on what the HP Tuners program cost them..
