Default Time to Winterize

I am going to put her away in a couple weeks and I was wondering if I'm missing anything. I have been storing her for the Chicago winters the past two years and this is what I have done. She gets to rest in one of my father-in-law's outbuildings on his Farm in WI. It is a steel building and he keeps his mint 67 Corvette and some equipment.

1. Fresh oil change
2. Stabil in a full gas tank
3. Wash
4. Remove Redtop battery and store it in a heated basement
5. Put a brick of steel wool in each exhaust outlet (mice protection?)
6. Cover

This year I am afraid of mice because they ate into a bag of seed that he was storing in there. I don't know how they got in, the building is very nice. I am now worried about my baby. What can I do to keep them from making a home?

Also, should I think about putting some sort of desiccant in the interior?

I don't think I'd be too concerned about mice in the exhuast. But they can find their way into the interior and nest in the upholstry and chew up the seats.

Dryer sheets in interior and engine bay to keep rodents out. Bonus for the fresh smell come spring time!

I've heard of using mothballs, never dryer sheets.

Why do they work, and what works best?

I actually heard that bit about the dryer sheets from various people on here, and was just passing it on. I have no idea why it works, but if it'll prevent me from throwing moth ***** everywhere, I'm down. Perhaps someone else can explain exactly why they work.

Default If you have to put it away.

Athough I drove my C5 through the mountains of New Mexico in last years ice storm without crashing and very very slowly, it still might not compare to Chicago's winter. So if you have to put it away remove any type of rodent food (especially birdseed) they will find it even in those rubbermaid type of containers. Next line the walls of the garage with those sticky mousetraps every six feet apart. Mice can climb up jack stands and into the smallest of cracks. Those traps might seem a little inhumane but if they get into your car you'll never get the smell out.
