Ran 108 octane booster, got code po410. ran another tank of gas with techtron. still get code after doing reset. any ideas? will it run itself out? emission test comimg up, dont wat any problems. Thanks
P0410 is a code for the secondary air injection system--The air pump that pumps air into the exhaust to clean emissions somewhat---I really can't see whay octane booster can have any effect on throwing that code--i would check the intake hose that is on the air cleaner to see if it is on proprerly--check for any exhaust leaks--check the check valves on boths sides--they do carbon up sometimes and won't shut---also check all the air line connections on the driver's side to see if any of the hose clamps broke or hoses are bad--otherwise it may be a random code---have it cleared with a scanner and try again--
Long story short.....had to put some bad gas in ....dont ask. In a thoughtless move, octane boost to improve the rating.....live and learn.
Thanks for the tips, I will look at to see if any problems.
Just FYI "108 Octane" is the product's name, not an octane rating. If you had 91 in there, then it would be more like 91.3 after the "booster".
Octane boosters off the shelf are
Find my previous threads on here for testing Ive done on octane engines showing they are garbage to put in your car. You want an octane boost then do it the right way with blending racing gas.

Yes, I know this. The gas I put in was far less than 91, hence the bad decesion to add octane boost. Shortly after adding it, started throwing po410 code ? since then, ran a tank through with Shell 91, still throwing code after reset. Any comments on clearing this code short of visiting a tuner?

Look above at post #2 by tblu92. He is correct, the P0410 indicates a problem with the AIR system. I agree with him that it is unlikely the octane "booster" had anything to do with this.
A tuner will not be able to "tune" this problem. It is a electrical or mechanical problem with the AIR system.
the pcm will adjust itself for whatever you run, many, maybe most parts of USA seem to only have 91 octane. Unless car tuned for higher octane car will not run slower with 91 vs 93. Car will run on 87 if you were so inclined b ut pcm would pull timing and car would I'm sure be slower. However, won't hurt car.
We have 93 octane in Bethlehem, PA and I've used that all the time but luckily I saw this thread and now it's time for 91 octane. Mmost probably the difference in RWHP is so small that I can not notice it on public roads.
I read that Shell has also 99.7 octane available but mainly in Europe.
I still have my stroker Pontiac that requires running straight VP C-16 117 octane stuff. Yea I don't drive it much but when I do, people behind me have watering eyes.

yes...nobody liked to drive behind me either.
and when simply driving the car made me sort of HIGH
I had my faulty air pump rebuild & repaired at BZrebuilders.com .in Canoga Park.( old school- 40 yrs. in business. They rebuilt it in 2 hrs and I re- installed it yesterday. I had mechanic previously check Solenoid, Vacuum tube/ hoses, Relay #33 & 50 fuse, which were ok. He changed out Air Intake valve on Drivers side too and repaired PVC tubing. So far, cost me $ 180 diagnostic. $ 250 pump to rebuild it and $250 to mechanics parts & labor..It failed to pass CA smog test for Air Pump malfunction prior to Air pump rebuild.I had codes removed, drove it 30 miles, and Walla-The nasty Error Code PO410 re-appeared. Any suggestion, since I have only one re- smog attempt left .Do I need to pull manifold and change out other Intake valve? STUCK OPEN? THANKS for any suggestions or remedy-Hopefully the rebuilt pump is working properly on cold starts.
