Default fuel recurve

I replaced the accordion piece of my intake (before the throttle body). and did not tap in, as of yet, the vacuum line for the fuel recurve that goes to the pressure regulator. does anyone know exactly what this does, i have gotten mixed responces from other forum members, and would like to know exactly what this is used for and if there is another way to bypass or hook this up to work, if not then i will be tapping into the smooth coupler and running the line again for it, thanks for your input again i respect your opinion and knowledge.

p.s. this is a 1998 c5

I dont use mine. All it does is as it senses a vacuum the valve shifts and lets the regulator recirc less fuel and therefore you get a higher fuel pressure. It only works at wot when you can draw a decent vacuum between the tb and the air cleaner. If you have an aftermarket intake such as vararam they hardly move at all. If you disconnect it, it will maintain the presset 62 psi or whatever it is. You can use a vacuum pump w/ gauge such as a brake bleeder and a fuel pressure gauge and play with the vacuum and watch fuel pressures change. The scary part is it will work in reverse too. So if you go FI you will pressurize that piece of tubing and therefore lower you fuel pressure as it makes boost. Not ideal by any means
