Default heads question

I have a question about a set of heads im looking at, the guy emailed me and gave me the low-down on em.

"These heads are about one and one-half years old. They have about 2000 miles on them. They were run with fully synthetic oil which was changed every 1000 miles. These heads were on my weekend car which was driven once or twice a month. The engine was never abused. The heads came off a 2002 35th anniversay SS convertible. I sold the car and the new owner did not want the heads or the other stuff that was put on the car. The heads were purchased new from Patriot Performance in Alabama. They are Stage 2 heads. These were new castings, The combustion chambers are precision welded and ported for flow. They are also heat treated. They are five axis machined on a CNC. They are hand detailed and assembled. They do have the 21-4N stainless valves. Included also are bronze valve guides. Also they come with the Patriot Gold .650 dual springs. Also titanium retainer. It is completed with a five angle valve job. Intake diameter is 2.02 and exhaust is 1.57. Flows 229 cfm at .600 lift. The heads are in excellent condition and have little use. I also took the heads to a machine shop to make sure the heads are not cracked. I wanted to make sure the heads were not cracked or leaked. I have the reciept for the pressure test and will include with the heads. These heads with the camshaft on the other auction really made the car come alive.Let me know what you wanna do"

Do these sound legit? I dont know too much about heads and all those numbers mean nothing to me because I dont know what they mean. Im driving a 1997 c5 a4 with a tsp224r 224/224 .581.581 112 with SSAC headers, would these be a good set of heads to pick up? the price is right. Any imput would help! Thanks guys

Patriots are pretty good lower budget heads. Gunnar at Patriot performance has been known to have great customer service. I've even seen him take a second hand set of heads and refresh them for free. I f you have questions, I would call him at Patriot Performance.

Good set of heads. The valvesprings are a little more than you need. But, will work good. You should tell us the price to see if they are truely a good deal.

It simply means the gold double springs are a little overkill, but that's necessarily not a bad thing.

You could safely run single beehive springs with your cam. The duals are meant/required for higher/steeper lift cams.

The duals will be just fine though, no worries.

IF they are as in good of shape as the seller claims, yeah, great deal.

I was hoping that was the exhaust side.....

You should check out the DART 205's...with that cam a large ported intake runner(225 cc and up) wouldn't be great for the low end.

Lot's of people over on ls1 tech have great results with them.

They also come with 62 cc combustion chambers so you can bump your compression without milling.

You could also contact Gunnar at Patriot and get his input if you want to, he is known for good customer service and supports this and other forums.
