Default More power but!!!

I have an 04 mn6 coupe that is bone stock/ with 19k miles. I have been reading about H/C changes headers/ exhaust etc. here on the forum for a long time. I too would like more power but one of the things I like about my vette is it's low rpm smoothness while pulling 6th gear on the interstate @ 70/75 MPH. I don't want to give this up. What has been your experience with aftermarket cams in regards to low end grunt? I know that H/C is the heart and soul of increased power but what price glory? While I would love more power, mine is not ever going to see a drag strip or track. In writing this , I have just about talked myself out of any mods. What do you think?

You can have both....
The same smoothness and more power. It's all in the cam selection.

Pulling in 6th? I had to get 4.10's to get pulling in 6th!

You want inexpensive sotp performance change your rear gears!

See my sig for mild combo and 100 extra hp. Absolutely zero driveability issues. As far as "pulling" in 6th, I can't stand to wait so I pick another gear. If you mean lack of bucking or other engine complaints then I have none of those either. At idle you can just tell that you are driving something other than a minivan and I think that is a good thing!

You can make up most of the low end loss of a bigger cam by bumping your compression ratio as long as you don't go crazy with the overlap (stick with a 114 LSA).

What about starting small....... i.e. intake and cat back... maybe hand tuner
should boost you 20 - 25 hp... no engine mods... then decide on headers and/or cam work if you catch the fever.../
