Default Radio *****

The guys at the car wash broke one of the ***** on the radio. These are the small buttons where you first push on them so that they extend and then you can turn them.

When you are done, you push them back in.

Can these be purchased for replacement?

thanks

The radio is serviced as a unit, you cannot buy individual parts for it.

Car washes are not a good idea for a Corvette, besides the fact they screwed up your radio, most car wash systems use a conveyor to move the car. The car sits very low, and has very wide tires/rims. You can do serious damage to the engine/underside of the car, and/or your tires and rims. Your Owner's Manual warns you of this.

I've noticed that each of these small ***** eventually cracks on its own too. Maybe they didn't break it, just caught it slightly and it broke the rest of the way. I've never seen replacements for anything in the radio as mentioned above by BlackZ06

Thanks all for your help. Ours did break into two halves so it appears that it was fatigued.

Here is a link for Corvette Radio *****.

Default guys at the car wash?

Nogee, dude, if I get my C-5 within about 8 city blocks of any car wash my DIC starts flashing all sorts of error codes!!!!!! Now I live in San Diego, as far as I am concerned, it is strictly a judgement call. I have seen the other cars being dried prior to a company car that I had washed, and those towels are then massaged all over my car. Like my mom told me: "Don't put that in your mouth, you don't know where it has been!" There are fanatical Corvette Owners/Forum members here like me, who go to extreme lengths (H2O softeners, microfiber towels, dedicated leaf blowers, Q-tips, interior detailing brushes, etc.) to give our C-5's a SPA Day and you are taking your's to a Car Wash? Sorry, you may not have any facilities to SPA your own car, so I apologize as this may be your only choice in cleaning your C-5, but if not, you might want to start doing her at home. If on the other hand, you cannot wash your C-5 yourself, you might want to use a mobile detailer to do it. Your profile doesn't show where you live, so it may vary upon your particular USPS zip code. But, IMHO, It is kind of like having someone else bathe your newborn infant.

The towels are dirty, the water is hard and the car wash guys just don't care. The car wash equipment will get you at some point. Don't do it.

I got a whole new faceplate for my c5 radio so I think parts are available. If the above link does not have what you want, you might try Dr. Don's. He fixes Corvette radios and advertizes on ebay I think.

RMS AUTO PARTS (TX) also has the individual radio control ***** available.
They supply a lot of the B-body Impala SS guys with parts. I've dealt with them on SS parts in the past. They ship fast and don't overcharge on shipping. Nice company to deal with.
