Default Cam install....cost?

What is typical cost to have a cam only installed? I have got quoted anywhere from $2,100 to $3,000. Let me know!

Edit: These prices include, custom camshaft, dual PRC springs, Ti retainers, steel seats, new locks, valve seals, moly pushrods and installation and dyno tune.

That price is totally insane ,If i coudnt do it myself,& bTW,its not too hard to do,Just time consuming , & I was gonna pay a Reputable shop to do the cam install,600.00 To 1,000 is more realistic,I was quoted 1,000 for a cam change lastyear ,From The Dealer

Sorry I should have been more specific. These prices include, custom camshaft, dual PRC springs, Ti retainers, steel seats, new locks, valve seals, moly pushrods and installation and dyno tune.

Do you need a new oil pump when doing a cam install? As you can see I wasn't quoted for a new oil pump.....

I highly recommend a ported Hi Vol oil pump while it is apart.

Our $1895 special includes custom grind cam up to .600 lift & all fluids/gaskets/hi vol oil pump. That is not just the install, but includes the cam & a full dyno tune.

Not neccesary, but a good idea to do it at the same time to save labor.

If you want to keep your engine cooler than yes. I would say just save your money especially during the winter if you plan on driving your car. It will take forever to get really hot air and to heat up your car.

It takes less than a day to swap a cam. A fair shop will charge about $85/hr, anyone who charges you more than $700 for the labor is ripping you off. Realistically it can be done in 6 hours. You can do your own math from there...

Edited: I just had my cam installed with all the supporting mods done by Newtech Performance:

Cam Specs:228/232 115LSA) & the necessary supporting mods springs, gaskets etc.
While they were in there, they suggested a high-volume oil pump & upgraded timing chain.
I also asked them to install and underdrive pulley & belt. And, of course the dyno tune by Nick.
429rwhp/392ft.lbs
Total: $2,800+/-

If you are in Norcal, I highly recommend these guys. Great Service, very knowledgeable and reasonable. * The blue line on the dyno sheet was with Vararam & LT's.

What if the spec'd cam is more than .600? My cam specs are .612 and .605 which would need to be ground.

Just depends on the springs we would use....on a grind like that we are still at $1895 or so.
