26 years working on drivetrain for GM, can't remember the last time i fixed a leak due to a servo cover seal though
I saw 3 to 4 drips on the rear of the pan. Do you think it's possible that the dealership is taking me for an hour and a half of maintenance? Maybe more if the leak is not corrected. I've got until Monday until I take it back to the dealership. I could jack it up in the my garage again. I have no idea what the servo cover is but I could at least wipe the rear pan and put some powder around the hole that was mentioned earlier in this thread to see if there are leaks from elsewhere. I would take it somewhere else for a third opinion.
I'm still trying to figure out why your first shop wasn't willing to atleast replace the pan gasket.

Unfortunately, I would have to say (as has been stated here a few times already) that the source of your leak is the differential seal. If it is, you will have to drop the transaxle, then the transmission/differential assembly, and finally, separate the differential and transmission to change the seal.
Right now I would return to the dealer that you just paid, have him put it on the lift and show you why it's still leaking. If he figures out that it's the differential seal, at least you'll get your money back and you're back to square one.
let them do the work under the condition of getting your money back if it still leaks! then take it to someone who can diagnos properly or give them another chance
only the differential is required to be removed if its the output shaft seal in trans is leaking
use of a brake cleaner to completely clean and dry off area(cracks and crevises) is required if using a spray powder leak detector, it works great to see wet spots that start to form

Under what other conditions should they do the work? If they diagnose the condition, give a price, then do the work, wouldn't you expect to get your money back, or have them guarantee the work?
Dropped the car of today at the dealership to get the 2/4 servo gasket and pan gaskets replaced. I called them after a few hours to ask how things were going. I was told the leak is the rear transmission/differrential seal. Parts will take 2 days to get here and the estimate just went from $300 to $1,000. Bummer.....
