a couple weeks ago my car would miss under acceleration some times and some times it wouldn't... I pulled all my MSD plug wires out and one of them was mutilated. I replaced it with a stock plug wire. it was fine for a week, now yesterday when I raced a TT supra, the car misfired again under WOT, but I still beat the supra ;);) I know it's misses because I can feel it, and it's lower on power and the check engine light flashes. I am gonna check my plug wires again tonight. What else could cause this to happen, it doesn't seem to happen all the time, it looks like something is loose somewhere. this happened after my cam change I had NGK sparkplugs put in and MSD wires.
If the light is flashing and goes away is a clue to having multi misfires ( P0300).
I find that many of these high dollar plug wires suck, with their short length, stock ones work just fine.
Have you looked at PCM to see what pending DTCs you have and if so what are they ?
I'm experiencing a similar problem with my '98 with AT. Under WOT load it will begin to miss at 4500 or so. If I bring the R's up slowly however, it pulls smoothly to redline. No codes are thrown when the misfire occurs.
The gremlin went away after doing the fuel sending unit fix, causing me to think it was a fuel delivery problem. But the problem has returned. Guess I'll replace the fuel filter next, and then proceed to the ignition.
IHMO,
get a PCM scanner on and record the PCM and this you would know exactly what the problem is. Far easier then having to guess.

Here are the codes that were stored when I checked it this morning. Also on the way to work, my fuel gauge went to empty, then after a little bit it was working again and then before I got to work it went to empty again :(

Ara,
Sorry I can't help you with your problem, don't have a C5. But I do have a question for you, can you call me when you have a chance (714) 883-8682.
CW, Actually last time I checked all the plugs the tips were very easy to break loose and I tighten them as much as I could with my fingers, that could be the problem too.. How tight should they be?
