Default Headlight downlimit switch

I had someone back into my 2000 C5 vette convertable and it pushed the left turnsignal light assembly back. I reset the light assembly to the original position but now the headlight continues to drive down after it has gone all the way down, causing a loud noise as the motor continues to run. My question is where would I find the downlimit switch or harness, I have done a physical inspection of the area (not all that easy to see around in there without taking off some of the cowling) and cannot locate where the problem may be. Anybody give me a hand with this would be appreciated.

I have a 2000 as well that does the same thing on the drivers side. As far as I can tell, the reason I have gotten for it is the nylon gear that is used in the motor. There is a site: http://www.rodneydickman.com/retail_new.html that sells brass replacement gears (I haven't gotten around to changing mine yet because of the time involved removing the headlight assy to do it) but he seems reasonable and they are good quality.

Yup, your internal gears are busted, in the motor. I just did mine a month or so back. The dickman gears are OK, but the brent franker gears are better, as they eliminate the rubber shock absorber that can also go bad. Google his name and you will get his website. Top notch service from him as well.
The install time is under an hour. Pull the entire headlight assembly out as one complete unit, and you won't have any aligment issues to deal with.
Need instructions, or help, PM me.
