This is really hard to read....

The 4L80 is a great choice if you plan to keep the overdrive, but it's really heavy and will eat up about 40 hp more than the 4L60.

I personally don't have any experience with RPM's products, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one. I plan to upgrade to a stage IV or V down the road myself.

There is a 4L80E option for the C5, but it is still a custom job costing about $10K to $12K. RPM has built sevral 4L60E holding 700, 800, 900+ rwhp.

From an engine and tranny view, can they just bolt up and let the C5 computer control the 4L80E? I mean, outside of the car, is it a no-brainer or are there adapter cables, conversion plates and modules and puke to get?

Reason I ask is: I want to change out the engine in my 1992 K2500 Suburban. It has all the 1-ton hardware, including the 4L80E. I don't want to change anything in the rest of the vehicle. Just want an F-body LS1 w/computer. Would love to be able to use my HP Tuners on my truck

The later GMT800 era 4L8xE can be adapted to any smallblock or big block. It sat behind the 6.0L LQ4 and the L18 8.1L. They are physically very different, especially when it comes to mass.

There a bunch of things you can do the 8xE like full manual operation and if you break a modified one, then you've got a good problem to have haha.
