i have owned this 98 for about 4 months. the only thing i have done to it since i have had it is change the oil and filter and a cold air intake. when the car is stopped and at idle it will have a miss about every 10-15 seconds. it runs fine and cannot feel any miss any other time. do you think it may need plugs and wires. i do not know the history of them. the car has 45300 miles on it. any help would be great. also no codes are coming up at all. thanks ed
If you have a garage - wait until it is really dark and make sure your garage door is up (so you dont die) and start your car - pop the hood - with the lights off - and watch for sparks around all 8 plugs/wires.
I have a 99 with a similar problem. My miss is at idle but occurs every now and then.
I got a check engine light and the code said O2 sensor(s). I changed the O2 sensors (before the cat), plugs, wires, air fliter and fuel filter. No luck.
Try cleaning the TB and while you are at it the MAF

Any ideas?
I had hesitation at moderate speeds when accelerating. Removed MAF and used brake cleaner but didn't touch the wires. Let it dry for 1/2 hour in the sun before replacing. Shoot some carb or TB cleaner into the TB with engine not running. Push the valve open a little to do this.
I finally cured my problems with new Iridium plugs and new red performance wires. Good luck. BIGHANK
Cold and raining this week...I'll give your recommendation a try when the weather breaks.
I had to edit this msg to share a new development. I drove the car tonight and noticed that the gas mileage had fallen off drasticly. When the car is idling the mileage indicator drops by a tenth of MPG every 15-20 seconds. When the car starts moving, the MPG starts going back up. Either its dumping gas at idle, or the CPU is confused...
