Got Whiplash on Tuesday. Should have before/after dyno sheets posted here after the weekend. Stephen has my P1SC-equipped LS1 currently tuned to 433rwhp.

Default Update

When I last e-mailed Stephen on Thursday,I only half jokingly said that it would be great if my vert could be in one of his killer vids. I was suprised when e-mailed right back that he'd be glad to make my C5 the new EG Whiplash poster child. He liked the idea of catching third gear wheel spin with the use of a pursuit car. I told him to keep the car as long as he wants. Car was scheduled for dyno today, but I know that Stephen seems to be fairly backlogged and I wouldn't be surprised if it may be a day or two for results. Stephen is also doing double springs and swapping out my 4.10 pulley for 3.70. He says that the car sounds "wicked" I'm looking for 500 rwhp.

Well congrats on the possible video ,will be waiting to see it. I know you are probably excited waiting to get it back, Do you know if they went with the 7.400 push rods or did they go with another ?

Wondering about that aspect as to the rocker postion on the valve.

Sure, I'd say allowing someone to use your car to film 3rd gear wheel spin sounds like an excellent idea. After all, you'll get to be in the new video.

Most cams with special names are all just custom grinds from Comp Cams. You need to do some cam research and find out exactly what your goals are and select the cams SPECS that suit you the best. Most of the time, it won't be some special name that someone made up, but rather your own custom grind from Comp Cams. There are a ton of gurus over at LS1tech that can help you select the perfect cam.

I agree, besides a lot of the cam specs I've seen specified and installed by people here are only addressing peak HP, when most of the time the power band is way too high to get at it. You'll have to spin those engines to the moon to even notice it and in fact you will lose bottom end HP and torque. I did lots and lots of research when I picked my cam and could have installed any cam I wanted for the money but I chose a mid range grind from a very successful tuner (Futral) and couldn't be happier with the choice. It's street friendly and the power comes on early and pulls right to red line. I like when someone picks a cam based on how it "lopes". Lot of money being wasted out there.

Stock 1999 LS1 Vert, stock LS1 heads, LGM Pros headers, no cats, x-pipe, Corsa Pace catback, ATI Procharger P1SC supercharger (with ATI version 1 bracket and dual intercoolers - extremely inefficient), 3.85 inch blower pulley, 7 lb of boost. EnglandGreen Whiplash cam, Patriot Extreme springs with titanium retainers.

Picked up 74rwhp with just a cam and 1.5 lb of boost increase. Baseline was 433rwhp with a 4.10 pulley making 5.5 lb of boost

Just as you are happy with the results of your mid range cam, I and others are more than happy with the results of our larger cams. My G5x3 that I put in is more than stret friendly. Its my daily driver and couldnt be happier. YES it does lope and that is one of the criteria I wanted in my cam. I just added AFR 205's which have smaller runners to make up for low end torque. Its all in the combination, IMO. In addition, this car that Stephen worked on already has a Procharger on it so im sure that makes up for anything a big cam "lacks" in peoples eyes

The experts will tell you that a big cam is undriveable... the experts will also tell you that a big cam and a supercharger/turbocharger are mutually exclusive... and yet...

Stephen seemed like you had fallen off the planet, because I haven't seen any post from you, Evidently you must be pretty busy with all the installs. PM me with the whiplash kit price, wondering if it is the same as the quote before? or email me at just280@yahoo.com. also have a question as to a Vigilante 2800 or 3200 triple disc torque converter and trans kit to go along with it.

And one last thing Congrats on the Dyno and tune on Carls car know you and he were stoked on the numbers!

EXACTLY !! I wasnt disagreeing at all, I agree with big cams. I was just giving my opinion to the poster above who said that lots of money is being wasted on big cams. I have one, which may not be all that big now Looks like your cams are working great
